Flying Experience

I began learning to fly in July 1995 in the final 6 months of my university studies and obtained my Private Pilots Licence in May 1997. I fly for recreation and as of writing this page (January 2014) I have accumulated 396 hours in my log book.

I am certified to fly the following aircraft:

Cessna 150

Cessna 172

Cessna_182

Piper PA-28 Cherokee/Warrior 140/160/180

Piper PA-28R-200 Arrow (Retractable, Variable Pitch)

Grumman AA-5B Tiger

Jabiru

In addition I hold a night rating and safety pilot rating and have logged just over 30 hours of instrument training.

In April of 2004 together with two other pilots from my flying club in South Africa I embarked on a 5 day flying tour around South Africa. In total we clocked up 21 hours of flying together. In July of 2005 with one of the pilots from the 2004 tour I embarked on a 9 day flying tour from South Africa to Botswana and Zambia which included flying across the Kalahari Desert, flying across the Okavango Delta in Northern Botswana and flying over Victoria Falls in Zambia.

I have also flown in the United Kingdom and logged 43 hours in UK airspace.

I recently (June 2016) converted onto the Cessna 182.
